OK, here's another idea that may not change the world but may make a few people happy. Not such a bad goal, right?
This idea comes from a basic question - what do you do with a travel coffee mug when you need two hands? My experience with these mugs is that they are all round or cylindrical. Problem is . . . round doesn't fit in a lot of places (OK, they fit in drink cup holders). Wouldn't it be nice to have a place to put the mug for a bit while you do something else?
If you are a business person, can you put a traditional travel mug in a side pocket of your briefcase? If you are a construction worker, are there any good places on the job site to put your mug down?
So here's the idea - a rectangular coffee mug that fits in places where traditional travel mugs do not.
I call it the Workman's™ Coffee Mug. Why might this make people happy?
1. It's different - a unique form factor from all the other travel mugs out there.
2. Because it is not round, it takes less space (fits in briefcase side pockets and car seat backs)
3. We could add a belt clip to it for folks on the go
4. It has a guaranteed "no spill" feature
Now for my favorite part of each of these posts . . . let's knock some holes in this idea:
1. Will it fit in a traditional drink cup holder in my car? Not sure, but what if we sold it with a little adapter?
2. Will the capacity be enough?
3. Can you comfortably (and successfully) drink out of something that is not round? Maybe there is a small rounded area that juts out around the top.
4. What if it's too slender to stand up properly without toppling over? Hmmm.
Now it's your turn. Nice to have or waste of time?
